It’s Wordle Wednesday, folks! For a minute there, I thought it was the last Wednesday of the month as well, but we actually have one more. Next Wednesday is the last day of January, in fact, which is both going by super fast and seems like a particularly long month.
February will certainly feel a bit longer than usual given this is a leap year and February gets that extra 29th day. Finally all those leap babies get to celebrate their birthdays!
As with every Wordle Wednesday, today I give you a riddle, logic puzzle or brain teaser and tomorrow I’ll reveal the answer. Here it is:
Five people were eating apples, A finished before B, but behind C. D finished before E, but behind B. What was the finishing order?

Wordle Bot Analysis
After each Wordle I solve I head over to the Wordle Bot homepage to see how my guessing game was.
I had quite a lovely guessing game today. I was shooting for something in the medical field with my first guess as I was actually on the phone making a doctor’s appointment when I was doing the Wordle. Doctor is too many letters and I didn’t think of nurse, which is a guess I’ll save for another day. Instead, I chose medic thinking as I typed it out that it was probably a bad guess and I would likely regret it.
Boy was I wrong! (Though also right at the same time, since I did pick such a splendid guess!) Medic turned over three green boxes, which I knew right away probably meant I had only a couple words left to choose from. There are lots of instances where three green boxes would leave you with lots of possible solutions (anything ending with out for instance) but I didn’t think many words had these letters in this position and I was right. After a bit of pondering, all I could think of was relic and it was the Wordle. Huzzah!

I scored big today. 2 points for guessing in two and 1 point for beating the Bot, who took three guesses this time. Huzzah for me and my whopping 3 point game!
Today’s Wordle Etymology
The word ‘relic’ comes from the Latin word “reliquiae”, which means “remains” or “something left behind”. The root of “reliquiae” is “relinquere”, which translates to “to leave behind” or “to abandon”. This Latin term made its way into English through Old French, where it was spelled “relic”. In English, the word initially referred to the bodily remains of a saint or the objects associated with saints. Over time, its use expanded to include any historical or surviving remnant from the past.
