Today’s Wordle #932 Hints, Clues And Answer For Sunday, January 7th 2024

News RoomNews RoomJanuary 7, 2024No Comments3 Mins Read

Lazy Sunday here we go! Lazy Sunday in the snow!

Other than shoveling today—and writing my Wordle guide—I don’t want to do anything at all. I don’t want to cook or clean or ponder the troubles of the world or the mysteries of the universe. I just want to chill and watch movies and do nothing.

This means I’ll probably end up cleaning, writing, making videos and lord knows what else.

For now, let’s do this Wordle!

How To Solve Today’s Word

The Hint: The bottom of a river.

The Clue: This word begins with a consonant.

Wordle Bot Analysis

After each Wordle I solve I head over to the Wordle Bot homepage to see how my guessing game was.

Can you solve today’s phrase?

Things started out rather badly for me. I picked reach because I’ve been writing about how bad this season of Reacher is—I’m so disappointed!—but that got me exactly zero green or yellow boxes. 403 words remained. Ouch.

Fortunately, the old reliable boink came to my rescue, leaving me with just one word and one yellow and green box. The only remaining possible choice was stony. Huzzah!

Today’s Score

I get 1 point for guessing in three and 0 for tying the Bot. Works for me!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word ‘stony’ comes from the Old English word “stanig,” which means “made of stone” or “full of stones.” The root of “stanig” is “stan,” which means “stone.” This root is shared with many Germanic languages, such as the Old High German “stein,” the Old Norse “steinn,” and the German “Stein.” The word has evolved over time, but its basic meaning has remained fairly consistent, referring to something that is made of, resembles, or is covered with stone. The suffix “-y” in “stony” is used to form adjectives and means “characterized by” or “full of,” so “stony” means “full of stone” or “characterized by stone.”

Play Competitive Wordle Against Me!

I’ve been playing a cutthroat game of PvP Wordle against my nemesis Wordle But. Now you should play against me! I can be your nemesis! (And your helpful Wordle guide, of course). You can also play against the Bot if you have a New York Times subscription.

Here are the rules:

  • 1 point for getting the Wordle in 3 guesses.
  • 2 points for getting it in 2 guesses.
  • 3 points for getting it in 1 guess.
  • 1 point for beating me
  • 0 points for getting it in 4 guesses.
  • -1 point for getting it in 5 guesses.
  • -2 points for getting it in 6 guesses.
  • -3 points for losing.
  • -1 point for losing to me

You can either keep a running tally of your score if that’s your jam or just play day-to-day if you prefer.
