Samsung Leak Details All-New Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Ultra Price Shock

News RoomNews RoomDecember 14, 2023No Comments2 Mins Read

Samsung’s new Galaxy S24 range will be one of the most feature-packed smartphones ever, and now we know how much more we will have to pay…

With smartphone prices going up across the board, the community will welcome the news that Samsung is looking to keep the Galaxy S24 prices similar to that of the Galaxy S23 family.

Sammobile’s Mihai Matei picks up on potential pricing from the South Korean press. The base model of the Galaxy S24 will be priced at $799, the base Galaxy S24+ will be $999, and the Galaxy S24 Ultra $1,199. These prices will rise if you opt for more memory or storage.

Interestingly, these prices are similar to the eS23, S23+, and S23 Ultra prices when those devices were launched in February 2023.

We know that Samsung will use a mix of its own Exynos silicon alongside Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Presumably, the homegrown chipset will be cheaper than sourcing from Qualcomm. That will certainly help bring down the average bill of materials on the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+. However, with the Galaxy S24 Ultra expected to be 100 percent Snapdragon, that cost saving will not carry over to the premium model.

What will impact the Galaxy S24 Ultra is the memory option. Over the summer, the Galaxy S24 Ultra has been spotted in various online testing and benchmarking results, with many reporting an S24 Ultra with 16 GB of RAM. Given the increased use of AI that comes with the Samsung Gauss AI suite, extra memory would be a huge boon for on-device processing.

Alas, the latest information shows Samsung sticking with 8 GB or 12 GB of RAM, depending on the model. With competing smartphone manufacturers shipping models with more memory, Samsung staying with its 2023 specifications may prove to be a false economy.

The Galaxy S24 family, including the S24 Ultra and S24+, will launch in early 2024 at a “Galaxy Unpacked” event that is widely expected to take place on January 17th.

Now read how Samsung is changing the design of the Galaxy S24 Ultra to accommodate a key hardware upgrade…
