Following the news that Kotobukiya is re-releasing its Noblesse Oblige model kit; it now looks like the dreaded Nineball Seraph will be available again next year.
In the original trilogy of Armored Core games on the first PlayStation, one of the major recurring villains is that of Nineball. A formidable Armored Core but one that isn’t piloted by a human being.
The underlying threat of artificial intelligence has always been a big part of the Armored Core games, with ties back to classic mecha anime. The same holds true for the latest installment as well, that of Armored Core VI.
However, Nineball Seraph was meant as the ultimate threat and the final form of the original Nineball.
Nineball Seraph also wasn’t really an Armored Core, more of a custom Muscle Tracer (or MT) and it could also transform into a high speed flight mode.
It was first introduced at the end of Armored Core Master of Arena, but would also appear as a secret boss in Armored Core 2 Another Age. It was even included in the rather lackluster Another Century’s Episode R.
This particular model kit was originally released back in 2011 and was a fan favorite. Apart from being wonderfully faithful to the original designwork, in terms of its sculpt and design, it could also transform.
Anyway, you can now pre-order this model kit and it’s priced at 9,240 yen (or around $61) and is also available from HobbyLink Japan. It will be released in May of next year.
