Jake Paul’s next fight is reportedly close to being finalized.
According to Colm McGuigan of IFLTV, the social media star-turned boxer is in “advanced talks” with veteran cruiserweight Ryan Bourland.
Perhaps Bourland was one of the people Paul was referring to in this post on X on New Year’s Day.
Bourland is 17-2 with 6 KO and he’s been stopped once in his career. He also looks a bit like a younger version of CSI actor Paul Guilfoyle.
In any case, Bourland would seemingly represent yet another step-up in competition for Paul who is coming off a vicious first-round KO win over Andre August in December 2023.
Paul has committed to fighting on Amanda Serrano’s undercard in her home country of Puerto Rico on March 2. Serrano fights under Paul’s Most Valuable Promotion’s banner, and his presence on the card makes the show even more of a draw.
If Bourland is Paul’s opposition, it will be an excellent opportunity for the little-known cruiserweight to shine and earn a solid payday.
Paul reminds us all that the opponents he chooses make good money for their efforts. Bourland’s last fight was a TKO win over Santario Martin in September 2022.
Expect to learn a lot more about Bourland in the coming weeks if he’s next on Paul’s hit list. Likewise, look for information on Paul’s MMA debut with Professional Fighters League.
That news should be coming at some point early in 2024.
