Everyone waiting for the new Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro should check their diaries. Google has confirmed a launch event for October 4th via the Pixel Store, which is widely expected to see the debut of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.
Google is sidestepping a full-scale physical event, instead relying on a livestream both on YouTube and the Google Play Store. Since the coronavirus pandemic, this has become the norm for many product launches. Last year’s launch of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro saw a small audience invited to the livestream to add a touch of intimate atmosphere to the event.
2022’s launch also saw the Pixel Watch presented to the world, with the Pixel Tablet making a brief cameo as Google marked out its new confidence in large-screen Android devices.
While the exact contents of the event have not been detailed, the safe bet is the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will be the headline act (coming two days before the anniversary of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro launch). The Pixel Watch 2 is set for this year, and we’ll see if Google hints at any new devices for 2024.
