InfoDocs: Start-up streamlines CIPC requirements

News RoomNews RoomJune 27, 2023No Comments3 Mins Read

In a startling revelation, the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) reports that an overwhelming 72% of registered companies in South Africa fail to meet basic legal requirements, such as submitting annual returns.

Recognising the pressing need for a solution, South African start-up InfoDocs has emerged with their innovative proprietary software, aiming to simplify company secretarial services and help directors and shareholders fulfill their obligations while avoiding costly penalties.

Joshua Alexandre, founder and CEO of InfoDocs, sheds light on the challenges faced by privately held companies: “Many privately held companies are put off by the admin and costs involved to remain compliant. We developed software to simplify company secretarial services for directors and shareholders. Even professionals use our system to import data directly from CIPC, produce professional templates and store company records securely online.”

The non-compliance of millions of companies in South Africa poses significant risks, including penalties, legal fees, and director liability.

To address this compliance crisis, InfoDocs offers an affordable alternative to traditional company secretarial services, leveraging their proprietary software to streamline the process.

InfoDocs’ user-friendly platform allows companies to file annual returns, notify the government of changes to company information, maintain shareholder registers, and produce necessary company records effortlessly. The software not only simplifies compliance but also helps businesses avoid financial burdens and legal consequences.

In addition to their efforts to enhance compliance for existing requirements, InfoDocs is also actively supporting companies in meeting the newly implemented laws regarding beneficial ownership.

With South Africa’s greylisting by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), the focus on transparent ownership and control structures of legal entities has intensified. By capturing share registers and facilitating the submission of beneficial ownership information, InfoDocs ensures that companies comply with the updated regulations.

InfoDocs works closely with the CIPC, serving as a valuable tool that aids the commission in fulfilling its mandate. With over 30 000 companies already benefiting from InfoDocs’ software, the startup has become an essential player in the compliance ecosystem. The platform provides users with alerts and notifications for submission deadlines and enables secure payments directly to the CIPC, all accessible through an intuitive dashboard.

By revolutionising the compliance landscape in South Africa, InfoDocs empowers businesses of all sizes to navigate the intricate legal requirements seamlessly. Through their cost-effective software solutions and commitment to simplifying compliance, InfoDocs is playing a vital role in ensuring the long-term sustainability and growth of companies in the country.
