News RoomNews RoomFebruary 18, 2024No Comments2 Mins Read

Well it’s been a long, strange difficult week for your humble narrator—hence me missing Saturday’s Wordle entirely, posting Sunday’s super later and not penning my weekend streaming guide. Sometimes life just sticks it in and twists, though I find that more often than not, we hold the knives ourselves.

I won’t bore you with details. Suffice to say, I’m back. A little worse for wear, but this too shall pass. For now, let’s do this Wordle!

Wordle Analysis

Every day I check Wordle Bot to see how I did. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.

It’s not that this was a particularly tough Wordle, but it wasn’t exactly easy either. I feel a little stupid for having guessed midge before ridge, but sometimes you come up a word that seems like a descent guess and you just don’t even think of the better one. Oh well!

Can you solve today’s phrase?

Competitive Wordle Score

A total wash today. I get a big fat zero for guessing in four and an even bigger, fatter zero for tying the Bot. Zeroes all around!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word “ridge” has its origins in the Old English word “hrycg,” meaning the back of a man or animal, a ridge, or a chain of hills. This term is related to the Proto-Germanic *hrugjaz, which likely has connections to the Proto-Indo-European root *krek-, meaning to be outstanding, project. Over time, the meaning of “ridge” has broadened to refer to a long, narrow elevation of land, such as a mountain range or a raised part on a surface. The evolution of the term reflects its roots in describing physical forms that stand out or rise above their surroundings.
