Today’s ‘Wordle’ Hints And Clues For Friday, February 23rd — Wordle #979 Answer

News RoomNews RoomFebruary 23, 2024No Comments3 Mins Read

Well it’s Friday at last—the last Friday of this extra-long Leap Year February. Next Thursday is the 29th, which is the only time you’ll see that until 2028. In a week, it’s March already. My how time flies when, well, I guess it doesn’t really matter whether you’re having fun or not, does it?

A whole bunch of shows are coming out this weekend and in the coming days so look for my streaming guide which should be out soon here on this blog (subscribe!) and stay tuned for lots more TV reviews.

In any case, it’s 2XP Friday so that means you get extra points if you beat me (or the Wordle Bot) or lose extra points if you lose. Let’s do it!

How To Solve Today’s Wordle

The Hint: Not together anymore.

The Clue: This word has a double letter in it.

Wordle Analysis

Every day I check Wordle Bot to see how I did. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.

Well, well, well. Good luck beating me today! I don’t know why I picked spire. I was thinking of some other word but it was six letters and then I sort of juggled stuff around until that lovely, pointy little word sprung up above all others. After that, and after considerable pondering, only one word remained: apart for the win!

Competitive Wordle Score

Eat your heart out Wordle Bot—as though you even have one—I win with 2 compared to the Bot’s 3. Oddly, the Bot appears to be back to using crane after a brief affair with trace and a rather long marriage to slate. Not that crane helped the bugger today. I get 2 points for guessing in two and 1 point for beating the Bot for a total of 3. But since it’s 2XP Friday I turn that 3 into a 6. 6 points! That’s huge! The hugest!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word ‘apart’ comes from Middle English, evolving from the phrase “at part” which means “at a side.” Its roots can be traced further back to Old French, from the term “à part,” meaning “to the side.” The Old French term itself is derived from Latin, where “ad” means “to” and “partem” translates to “part” or “piece.” Thus, the etymology of ‘apart’ reflects the concept of being separated or at a distance from something or someone, consistent with its use today to denote separation or a state of being aside.
