Today’s ‘Wordle’ #1007 Hints, Clues And Answer For Friday, March 22nd

News RoomNews RoomMarch 22, 2024No Comments2 Mins Read

Good grief, this month is going by too fast. I think this is a symptom of getting older. Time just moves so much more quickly. I think it’s also a symptom of writing a Wordle guide every day. You pay attention to time’s mad rush. We’re all rushing headlong toward The End. Better enjoy ourselves on the way out.

Just not too much. I have wandered the dark gardens of Dionysus and eaten from those tables, and I can same with some certainty that there is too much of a good thing.

In any case, here’s a good thing we can’t get too much of—just one a day! Let’s do this Wordle! Oh, and it’s 2XP Friday for Competitive Wordlers, which means double your winnings or losses down below!

How To Solve Today’s Wordle

The Hint: Rot.

Every day I check Wordle Bot to see how I did. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.

Can you solve today’s phrase?

I admit, I used a Wordle Bot favorite today. Why not? They’re usually pretty solid choices. I know I try to change it up every day but sometimes, when imagination fails without a trace, what can you do? It left me with three yellow boxes—the same as crane would have (the Bot’s current favorite).

Achey seemed like a good way to juggle those letters, and it was. Only one word remained and at last I figured it out: decay for the win! Huzzah!

Competitive Wordle Score

A tie. Wordle Bot went from crane to fecal to decay which is actually kind of on point. Speaking of points, I get zero for tying and 1 for guessing in three. Since it’s 2XP Friday that’s 2 points! I’ll take it!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word ‘decay’ comes from the Middle English decaye, which in turn is derived from the Old French decair. The Old French term originated from the Vulgar Latin decadere, meaning “to fall off, to fall down”. Decadere itself is a compound of de- (“down”) and cadere (“to fall”). Thus, the etymology of ‘decay’ reflects a process of falling or declining, which aligns with its current meanings related to the natural process of degradation or the decline in condition, quality, or strength.
