There’s A Big ‘Escape From Tarkov’ Sale But Some Fans Aren’t Happy

News RoomNews RoomApril 6, 2024No Comments3 Mins Read

A surprise sale for Escape From Tarkov has been launched, with all editions of the game being available for 20% off until April 8.

The Spring Sale runs until 9:59 pm BST / 4:59 pm EDT on April 8 and offers 20% discounts on all pre-order editions of the game. That means that the standard edition is now €41.60 before fees in Europe, with the Left Behind edition going for €68.80 and the Prepare For Escape edition going for €92.

The sale also extends to the Tarkov merch store, with all items also getting a 20% discount for the weekend.

If you are looking to pick up Escape From Tarkov, or even upgrade to one of the more expensive editions that gives you better loot at the start of a wipe and a bigger secure container, then now is the perfect time to drop some cash. We know that sometime in the coming months Escape From Tarkov will finally move into a full release with the 1.0 update, and when that happens there will likely be a price increase, as is usually the case when early access games leave early access.

Sales for Tarkov usually happen a couple of times a year, but this one was relatively unexpected and could be the last before the 1.0 launch. It comes following one of the biggest patches of the wipe so far, and mid-way through an in-game event that is taking a little longer than many expected.

However, in typical Tarkov community fashion, a lot of players aren’t happy about this sale. Cheaters in Tarkov have been a hot topic for weeks, with over 44,000 accounts being banned this wipe. However, there is nothing stopping cheaters from buying a new account and getting back into the game, and this sale makes it even cheaper for them to do so.

A sentence on the X post announcing the sale suggests that you will not be able to buy multiple editions as gifts, but there doesn’t seem to be any way to stop people from creating multiple accounts and stockpiling them at the discounted rate to use when their current account gets banned.

Multiple replies to the X post are from fans complaining that this will make it easier for cheaters to just come back as soon as they get banned, with some claiming that this sale is specifically to give cheaters a cheaper way to get back into the game.

Of course, in reality, this is just a positive for anyone looking to buy Tarkov or upgrade their edition, and will likely save a lot of people a bit of cash. If that’s you then make sure you get the discount before it ends in a few days.
