NYT ‘Connections’ Hints And Answers For Saturday, March 16

News RoomNews RoomMarch 16, 2024No Comments4 Mins Read

Looking for Friday’s Connections hints and answers? You can find them here:

Hey folks, welcome to the weekend! I hope you’ve got some fun plans in store. I certainly do, but I’m feeling under the weather. I’m hoping to feel better very soon so I can actually go and do those things.

Today’s NYT Connections hints and answers are coming right up.

How To Play Connections

In Connections, you’re presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by figuring out the links between them. The groups could be things like horror movie franchises, a type of verb or rappers.

There’s only one solution for each puzzle, and you’ll need to be careful when it comes to words that might fit into more than one category. You can shuffle the words to perhaps help you see links between them.

Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is typically the hardest one to deduce. The purple group often involves wordplay, so bear that in mind.

Select four words you think go together and press Submit. If you make a guess and you’re incorrect, you’ll lose a life. If you’re close to having a correct group, you might see a message telling you that you’re one word away from getting it right, but you’ll still need to figure out which one to swap.

If you make four mistakes, it’s game over. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen with the help of some hints, and, if you’re really struggling, today’s Connections answers.

  2. Green group — cabins
  3. Blue group — look into a candidate
  4. Purple group — key parts of a series

Need some extra help?

Be warned: we’re starting to get into spoiler territory.

Today’s groups are…

  • Yellow group — get smaller
  • Green group — airline classes
  • Blue group — examine, as an applicant
  • Purple group — notable TV episodes

What Are Today’s Connections Answers?

Spoiler alert! Don’t scroll any further down the page until you’re ready to find out today’s Connections answers.

This is your final warning!

Today’s Connections answers are…

  • Yellow group — get smaller (CONTRACT, LESSEN, REDUCE, SHRINK)
  • Green group — airline classes (BUSINESS, COACH, FIRST, PREMIUM)
  • Blue group — examine, as an applicant (CHECK, REVIEW, SCREEN, VET)
  • Purple group — notable TV episodes (FINALE, PILOT, PREMIERE, SPECIAL)

I can’t complain about having a perfect game, especially when it takes my overall winning streak to eight.

The yellows jumped out at me straight away. I thought for a second that with FIRST, PREMIERE and PILOT, there would be a group of first things, but I didn’t see a fourth word that would fit. I then realized that SPECIAL would fit with the rest of the purple words, so I managed to finish that group.

The blues were straightforward enough, I felt. That left me with the greens. I was glad for that. I didn’t consider PREMIUM as a companion for the other three words, even though premium economy is a thing.

That’s all there is to it for today’s Connections clues and answers. Be sure to check my blog for hints and the solution for Sunday’s game if you need them.

P.S. Please indulge me for a moment while I share another of my current musical obsessions with you. I can’t get enough of The Last Dinner Party, who do a marvelous job of blending rock, pop and theatricality. They’re a little pretentious, sure, but hey so were David Bowie and Freddie Mercury.

Their album’s great and I’m looking forward to seeing them live in a couple of weeks. This is their first single, which I adore (though note that it’s a little NSFW).
