‘League Of Legends’ Is Adding A ‘Vampire Survivors’ Style Mode

News RoomNews RoomApril 8, 2024No Comments3 Mins Read

Not one to miss out on a trend in the gaming world, Riot Games has announced plans for a Vampire Survivors-style game mode within League of Legends.

The reveal was made in the most recent Dev Update video, which you can see below, where members of the LoL team made some big announcements about the future of League of Legends. There were a few big announcements, but by far the most interesting was the first look at a new game mode that appears to be very similar to the indie hit Vampire Survivors.

The mode will launch as part of the summer event later in the year and is being billed as a bullet heaven survivor PvE game mode. This all points to the mode basically being Vampire Survivors, where you control a character with automatic weapons and take on massive waves of enemies. It is a good fit for League of Legends and should be fun if executed well, but it does feel like another example of LoL copying another popular game yet again, as they did with Teamfight Tactics and Auto Chess.

Elsewhere in the dev update video, the team revealed that the Arena game mode will be getting another rework before it returns for its third run. The second run has proven to be very successful, which means it will be returning again with a targeted release date of May 1. The big change to the mode will be a switch to 16-player lobbies, meaning eight teams of two will be battling it out instead of four. This should add a lot more variety to the matches you play and reduce the number of times you play the same people in a match.

It was also revealed that Lee Sin’s ASU update will arrive in patch 14.9 on May 1, with some of the big visual changes being shown off for the first time. It doesn’t look like a massive change, but it is certainly an improvement over the dated previous look of one of the most popular champions in the game.

Another ASU will be released in patch 14.20, which is currently scheduled for early October and will be for the champion everyone loves to hate, Teemo. No details were revealed given it is still months away, but anything to make him less annoying will be welcomed by many!

The update video covered a lot of ground so it is certainly worth a watch if you want to find out exactly what’s coming to League of Legends in the coming weeks and months.
