‘Helldivers 2’ Patch Notes: Crash Fixes, Better Matchmaking, Less Disconnection

News RoomNews RoomFebruary 14, 2024No Comments3 Mins Read

While everyone may be enjoying themselves in Helldivers 2, which recently just crossed an eye-popping 200,000 concurrent players on Steam, there are certainly some…technical challenges with the game.

Now, Arrowhead has just released patch 01.000.006, aiming to address a whole lot of different scenarios that can cause crashes in the game, and your current issue may be among them. In addition to that, there have been changes made to both improve matchmaking and reduce disconnection during missions, which has been frustrating for players given the length and investment of those missions.

Here are the patch notes for the Helldivers 2 patch that should be live now:

Good day Helldivers! Fresh patch notes coming your way to optimize your liberation efforts. For this patch, we have focused on the following areas:

  • Improved general game stability
  • Prepared build for upcoming server matchmaking improvements.
  • Resolving connectivity and disconnect issues.

Fixes

  • Fixed crash when application was closed shortly after start
  • Game no longer crashes during extraction cutscene.
  • User profile with too many friends no longer causes crash.
  • Fixed crash when using text-to-speech during extraction cutscene
  • Game no longer crashes when users disconnect during the joining cutscene.
  • Operation Status in Mission Summary no longer causes crash.
  • Fixed crashes caused by leftover visual effects from disconnected players.
  • Game no longer crashes when using ADS.
  • Repaired instability in game data packing that caused increased patch sizes.
  • Improved backend connectivity, reduces likelihood of disconnecting in missions.
  • Improved matchmaking experience and likelihood of success.

The patch has just gone live, and players can now jump back in to see how much things have improved. Previously, Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt has addressed some of the technical issues on Twitter, though this was mostly about server connection and dealing with the incredibly high traffic the game has inspired, thanks to it being a success beyond what anyone envisioned:

In the replies, Pilestedt says that he wants to make Helldivers 2 “the best co-op game of all time.” Ambitious goal, perhaps, but players are certainly loving it, and I haven’t seen so many positive vibes around a game in a long while. Palworld may be a bigger hit, but the first week of that was spent tearing down the game for using AI (which was never proven) and stealing Game Freak’s Pokémon designs (which…it sort of did). Nothing like that here with Helldivers 2, only mass democracy-spreading.

So, hop back in now and you will hopefully find a more stable game. Happy bug hunting, patriots.
