‘Blue’ From ‘Cowboy Bebop’ Gets A Great New Cover

News RoomNews RoomMarch 31, 2024No Comments2 Mins Read

The final song from Cowboy Bebop, that of Blue, has been given a great new cover sung by Maya.

This cover also has an interesting backstory, as it started out as the background music in Honda’s new Move campaign. However, that was only a short clip and not the whole song.

So it’s great that we now have the whole song available online (shown below).

The original version of the song was used at the end of Cowboy Bebop, which is not something I am going to spoil if you haven’t seen it. The series and movie are available on Blu-ray and come thoroughly recommended (although I’d skip the live-action adaptation).

The music for Cowboy Bebop was also penned by the extremely talented Yoko Kanno, who I managed to interview last year.

Directed by Shinichiro Watanabe with excellent mecha designs by Kimitoshi Yamane and some fascinating world-building elements from Shoji Kawamori, Cowboy Bebop remains a classic anime and one of my all-time favorites.

With the episode Toys in the Attic being a great deal of fun. Especially now that I know that the funky fridge in that episode was actually real and ties back to the production of Blue Comet SPT Layzner, which Watanabe also worked on when he was starting out in anime.

Anyway, this new cover of Blue is great and I am just happy to hear more of Kanno’s work out in the wild again.
