A ‘Destiny 2’ Player Reportedly Just Cleared Legend Onslaught Solo, Somehow

News RoomNews RoomApril 15, 2024No Comments3 Mins Read

Bungie flat-out told the playerbase they thought it was impossible, but as ever, the Destiny 2 community proved them wrong. Well, at least appears to have.

Reportedly, Destiny 2 player Xeneris has beaten Legend Onslaught solo, something he posted a screenshot of online, but a claim seemingly backed up by API data. The run was on Hunter and took 90 minutes exactly. I am continuing to look into the exact circumstances of this, but I’ll update with more as it comes.

If it is indeed legitimate, it’s hard to understate just how insane this feat is. We don’t know how many people may be able to do this, and it’s only week one, but I mean, I am really trying to wrap my head around this and how it’s even possible.

I am in the midst of attempting to contact Xeneris to learn more, but from the publicly available data we know that:

  • He was on Void Hunter with Shadowshot Deadfall
  • His primary was Adept Warden’s Law paired with Lucky Pants
  • His special was Indebted Kindness (the rocket sidearm)
  • His heavy was Gjallarhorn

However, this likely only tells part of the story, as in an activity like this, and with Destiny’s ability to now swap around loadouts with ease, he likely flipped between builds for different situations, or almost certainly for bosses. That one with Gjally sounds like a boss loadout to me, but it’s not clear. In the normal waves, crowd control, and wave clearing is a priority, hence why tether Hunter is so valuable, whereas bosses you want to either burn down fast or have the ability to survive in that room. (Update: Further API digging seems to suggest they only used three weapons for the entire run, somehow).

Doing Legend Onslaught solo is something entirely different than soloing say, raid encounters where that’s possible. Here, it’s not just about you staying alive, as of course a solo death ends the run, but you also have to protect the ADU at the same time, meaning the pace of clearing out enemies, often yellow bars, boss level enemies, champions and terrifying Tormentors, which is so difficult I legitimately have no idea how he did it. Xeneris said he recorded the whole thing, so hopefully that will be online soon so we can see more.

Some are claiming he must by lying, but again, there is API data to support this happened. And other players are getting close to this, there are videos of players reaching level 35, 40, 45 on legend, so I am guessing Xeneris will not remain the only solo-er for all that long, and I am waiting on that video. Still, anyone who does this has to be one of the most insane PvE players in the game. Bravo.
