Actor Chance Perdomo’s Death Delays ‘Gen V’ Season 2 Filming Indefinitely

News RoomNews RoomMarch 31, 2024No Comments2 Mins Read

On Saturday, actor Chance Perdomo died in a tragic motorcycle accident at the age of 27. He’d previously starred in The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on Netflix, but more recently, was one of the leads of Gen V, the college-based spin-off of The Boys, which did very well for Amazon and was about to start filming season 2.

Instead, the cast learned of Perdomo’s death just as table reads were supposed to begin and filming was starting in just over a week on April 8. Now, production on season 2 of Gen V has been delayed indefinitely. Mainly because of the shock of his passing, but also because he was meant to be leading the next season along with his castmates, meaning either the entire script will need to be overhauled or his role will need to be recast with a new actor.

Perdomo played Andre Anderson, the son of famed hero Polaris, where both he and his father have magnetism-based powers. He was the best friend of Patrick Schwarzenegger’s Golden Boy, and Schwarzenegger mourned the actor on Twitter.

Andre was meant to be one of the “good” supes framed for chaos and death at Godolkin, and this season would have seen him fighting alongside the others to clear their names and stop the true villains. Again, it’s too early to know how the story may have to pivot from here, and how Perdomo’s absence may or may not alter the planned storyline.

Perdomo had recently posted about his new motorcycle shortly before his passing. His accident was in Upstate New York, and reportedly there was no one else involved in the crash.

It’s a horrible situation for the entire cast and crew and of course, Perdomo’s family. This will likely cause a lengthy delay in Gen V season 2 arriving, but it’s obviously understandable. It will be some time until we know what the plan is for the show going forward as the writers and cast grapple with what his absence will mean, and try to process it themselves.
