Samsung is bringing its artistic take on tech from The Frame lineup of TVs to a speaker. The Samsung Music Frame is meant to blend into the home environment to look like a painting. But when you take out the frame, it’s a full-fledged speaker on the inside. While I couldn’t experience it in depth, it sounds loud and can be paired with the 2024 lineup of Samsung TVs.
The branding suggests that it might have a screen but it doesn’t. The Samsung Music Frame is a speaker with a physical print of a photo on the front. As a result, you don’t get a digital version and you can have only one photo on the speaker at a time. It looks lovely and according to the company, the prints are customizable when orders go live.
It’s a “diasec” matte acrylic plate that can be attached to the speaker magnetically. The only downside I see is that because you don’t have a display, it’s not dynamic with photos. You can’t add more photos on a plate and if you need to customize a single Music Frame by adding more photos to it, you need to get more prints and switch between them physically.
The Music Frame can be used as a standalone Bluetooth or Wi-Fi speaker, or you can pair up to six Music Frame speakers with the 2024 Samsung TVs and use them for surround sound. It can also be used as a single TV speaker or a subwoofer. It is said to deliver “excellent Dolby Atmos sound” with its set of two woofers, two tweeters and two mid-range drivers. It
The Samsung Music Frame is a cool concept that I can see myself buying in a pair and placing them on the wall behind my sofa, so it’s paired with the soundbar, and I can get a surround sound experience. However, the pricing remains a mystery at this point in time.
