Nvidia Teases New RTX 40 Super Graphics Cards

News RoomNews RoomJanuary 2, 2024No Comments3 Mins Read

The CES event in Las Vegas looks set to be the launch platform for a busy year of new computer hardware introductions and one company that’s got mo0re than a few products incoming is Nvidia, which today teased this fact with a new profile photo on social media.

While the new graphics card is currently unknown, recent rumors from a variety of sources point at not one but three new graphics cards being announced and that doesn’t include the also rumored GeForce RTX 4090 Ti. For the moment, we can be relatively sure the new trio of cards will include a GeForce RTX 4070 Super, RTX 4070 Ti Super and RTX 4080 super.

As Nvidia’s new social media images suggest, it’s a new horizon and new graphics cards, specifically for the RTX 40 series. The RTX 4070 Ti Super is said to be receiving a memory upgrade from 12GB GDDR6X to 16GB, moving it in line with AMD, which has 16GB minimum on most of its Radeon RX 7000-series cards.

The RTX 4070 Super looks set to receive a sizeable CUDA core increase from 5,888 with the 4070, to 7,168 with the new model, not far off the standard RTX 4070 Ti’s 7,680. The RTX 4080 Super will have the same 16GB of GDDR6X memory but gain around 500 CUDA cores, rising from 9,728 to 10,240.

Another yet unannounced fact is what will happen to existing cards in the market, but as well as the new cards hopefully putting downwards pressure on prices, the RTX 4080 Super and RTX 4070 Ti Super are said to be replacing the RTX 4080 and RTX 4070 Ti while the RTX 4070 and RTX 4070 Super will coexist for now.

A more recent leak from MSI seems to confirm these three cards as well as revealing the RTX 4070 Ti Super will indeed get a memory upgrade over the non-Super card to 16GB, according to Videocardz.

The latest information points to a January 8th 2024 announcement. Next comes the RTX 4070 Super, with a launch date of January 17th, followed by the RTX 4070 Ti Super on January 24th and January 31st for the RTX 4080 Super.

Intel and AMD are also expected to make big announcements in Las Vegas over the next week that will interest PC and laptop gamers and enthusiasts so stay tuned to me here on Forbes by following me using the blue button below or via Facebook or Twitter.
