‘Escape From Tarkov’ Patch Fixes Multiple Bugs But No Halloween Event

News RoomNews RoomOctober 26, 2023No Comments3 Mins Read

A new patch for Escape From Tarkov has been released and while it isn’t massive, it does take aim at some of the more annoying bugs in the game.

The patch is being deployed to servers now and is expected to take around four hours, which will mean the game is back up and running around noon BST / 7 a.m. ET.

Perhaps the most exciting change is a number of fixes and improvements to Scav AI. While AI scavs have always been very divisive in Tarkov, either for being too good at shooting you in the head or as it currently feels too little of a challenge to take down, there has been no doubt that their movement and intelligence have always been lacking. Hopefully, the upgrade will make them act a little more natural.

There are also a number of undocumented changes to multiple maps including fixing geometry, collider, foliage, and lighting issues. You’ve no doubt been running around Tarkov and seen an out-of-place bit of scenery or a gap that shouldn’t be there, so some of these should now also be fixed. It would also be a safe bet to assume the foliage changes include further changes to trees that you can climb in after some were missed in the last patch.

A big bug fix that will surely be welcome is a fix to hit registration on players who are crouch-walking. If you’ve noticed some strange missed shots on crouched players this could be the fix for that.

Other changes include some fixes for inventory freezes, stopping the bug that prevents you from transferring scav items to your inventory and the most important patch note is that the NcSTAR MPR45 Backup mount can now be installed on the Daniel Defense RIS II FSP 9.5 handguard. Important stuff.

While the patch notes do not mention anything to do with the Halloween event, it is probably a safe bet that some things have been hidden in this update that will appear when the event goes live. The patch overall seems quite small based on the released patch notes, so to take down the game for four hours just for this seems unlikely.

We have no idea when the Halloween event will launch, although Nikita did tease that it is coming soon. It could be live once the patch becomes playable, although that is somewhat unlikely given it is only October 26.
