Netatmo’s First Smart Lock is Finally Available To Buy

News RoomNews RoomOctober 12, 2023No Comments2 Mins Read

The Netatmo Smart Door Lock, which was first revealed at CES 2020, is finally now available to buy.

Only time will tell if a 3+ year delay means that Netatmo’s first smart lock still appeals, but it does have one intriguing trick up its sleeve.

The lock can be opened with your smartphone using Bluetooth, as you’d expect, but can also be accessed using physical keys… sort of.

Netatmo’s keys come with NFC chips that are pre-synced with the new Smart Lock. When inserted, the key authorizes the door to unlock, not through a physical mechanism but via an NFC signal that the lock reads from the key.

You can sync as many locks as needed to work with a single key. Additionally, you can activate multiple keys for each lock, providing flexibility to provide access to your friends and families.

If you need to supply temporary access, to a cleaner or a contractor for example, you can also do this by providing access entry times for a specific key.

Netatmo’s Security smartphone app offers remote control, allowing you to deactivate the NFC chip if you want to restrict someone’s access. This app also enables you to lock and unlock the door when you’re within Bluetooth range or send a ‘digital’ key to someone when you’re not home.

From a security perspective, the lock is designed to withstand both physical and electronic attacks and holds EN 15684 and SKG security certifications, making it one of the most secure locks in Europe. Its cylinder is made from high-strength stainless steel and reinforced with an anti-drilling plate and three security pins.

HomeKit compatibility is another highlight, allowing integration into scenes and offering remote control capabilities when you’re outside your home.

Local access and control is the key here with a lock of Wi-Fi meaning that you keep things out of the cloud.

The Netatmo Smart Lock operates on just four AA batteries for over a year of power.

The Netatmo Smart Door Lock is compatible with doors equipped with Euro Cylinder locks.

Initially launching in France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, it is set to become available in the UK soon. The lock itself is priced at €379.99, with a pack of three Smart Keys available for €99.99, individual Smart Keys at €39.99 each, and Extension Kits for 45mm and 40mm door widths for €29.99 apiece.
